ROOTED JOURNAL

Why ROOTED was created — and why community will always come before profit.
I started ROOTED because I know what it feels like to be a small fish in a big sea of sharks.
When I first launched my own small business, I quickly realized how isolating it could feel. On platforms that claimed to “support entrepreneurs,” I was just another listing in a marketplace that cared more about profitability than people. Competing against dropshippers and mass-sellers, it was nearly impossible for small businesses like mine to be seen, let alone to thrive.
ROOTED was born out of the belief that community should come before profit, and that every entrepreneur, no matter how small, deserves a space where their story, culture, and craft are celebrated. My goal isn’t just to create another marketplace, but a movement: a place where consumers can shop with intention and where small businesses can finally take center stage.
That frustration turned into fuel. I wanted to create a space that does the opposite — a platform where community comes before profit, and where underrepresented entrepreneurs are celebrated rather than overlooked.
ROOTED exists for the dreamers, the makers, the underrepresented voices who deserve more than just a corner of the internet. It’s about empowerment, connection, and building something bigger than ourselves.
This is why ROOTED isn’t just my story — it’s our story.
